I began molding paper in 2019, but only had boxes of these little frills until March 2020. The first day my work called me to tell me they were closed for a week due to Covid , I took what felt like an adult snow day and started the larger pieces. All the pieces I'd created were called up to do something new. Making the individual pieces makes me calm. I have had time to make so, so many.

The individual pieces are called flounces, after a fabric manipulation (sewing) technique.  It's also a highly gendered verb for exaggerated annoyance or impatience.

In August 2021, I showed a new body of work at The Arsenal Gallery in Japantown, San Jose along with Alyssarhaye Graciano. It was a lovely two-person show and the first time I felt like my art had formed like a little town. Not all alike, but together.  The show was called Rag Soup & Sugar Sandwiches.
